Have you ever wished that you could shampoo less, yet still have non-greasy, bouncy hair? I have!

This DIY Dry Shampoo recipe is the answer. And it actually works!

Less shampooing means healthier hair. Shampoo strips oil from the scalp and hair, which can leave your hair and scalp drier and your hair more prone to breaking.

I used to have to shampoo my hair every 2 days and if I went any longer than that, my hair was a lifeless, greasy mess. After using this DIY Dry Shampoo, I can go about 4-5 days and my hair still looks great and stays full of life and body.

This is 4 day hair with this DIY Dry Shampoo Recipe! No grease and I still have body and bounce! Love!

How to make Homemade Dry Shampoo:

Base Ingredient for Dry Shampoo:

Dry Shampoo for Blonde Hair

Add 1 – 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg

Dry Shampoo for Brown Hair

Add 2 – 3 teaspoons cinnamon

Dry Shampoo for Dark Hair

Add 2 – 3 teaspoons cocoa powder

Dry Shampoo for White or Gray Hair

No need to add any coloring

Dry Shampoo for Dandruff

Add 2 – 3 drops lavender or wintergreen essential oil

Dry Shampoo for Dry Hair

Add 2 – 3 drops geranium, sandalwood or lavender essential oil

Dry Shampoo for Fragile Hair

Add 2 – 3 drops sage, lavender or thyme essential oil

Dry Shampoo for Greasy or Oily Hair

Add 2 – 3 drops of basil, cypress, thyme, lemon or rosemary essential oil

Dry Shampoo for Hair Growth

Add 2 – 3 drops thyme, lavender or rosemary essential oil

Dry Shampoo for Itchy Scalp

Add 2 – 3 drops peppermint essential oil

Dry Shampoo for Hair Loss

Add 2 – 3 drops rosemary, lavender or thyme essential oil

Dry Shampoo for Lice Prevention

Add 2 – 3 drops eucalyptus, rosemary or tea tree essential oil

Directions:

In a small container (preferably one that has a shaker top lid. An old spice container works great!), add the arrowroot powder. Add the optional cocoa, cinnamon or nutmeg to match your hair color. Add your choice of essential oil and shake until well blended.

How to use Dry Shampoo:

Place a very small amount – about a dime size – into your hands and rub together. Apply the powder to dry hair at the roots, right at the scalp. Style as usual.

Dry shampoo works best on days 2 -4 of unwashed hair.

Dry Shampoo – Cornstarch works just fine as the basic ingredient too.

If I brush out my hair before bed, apply dry shampoo, then go to bed, the next morning my dry shampoo works well!
