Matcha powder is the leaves of finely milled green tea. And did you know that it’s jam packed with benefits? Matcha has been said to provide anti-aging benefits, helps boost the immune system, cleanse the body, provides a sustained energy boost, and so much more (learn more about matcha HERE). Some call matcha THE superfood of super foods because of it’s high antioxidant level. It’s even considered a thermogenic, which means it helps you burn fat and lose weight!

I make a similar mint smoothie all the time but haven’t thought to try matcha in it. Definitely will now!

I love reading all of your posts! Would you consider doing some that are like the “A day in my life” or “what I ate Wednesday” type? I think it would be neat to see what you eat and what your workouts are in a typical day. Thanks!!

While I applaud your efforts and agree with what you say about matcha, I am deeply disappointed that you would allow Silk to sponsor you. They are owned by Pepsi, and have contributed a lot of money to ensure that GMOs do not get labeled. They are NOT supportive of healthy food and lifestyles.

If you are truly interested in people’s well being, I highly recommend you not continue to purchase or utilize their products yourself nor encourage your readers to do so.

I have really enjoyed your blog and posts. It would sadden me to leave your readership.

    Sincerely,
    Ann

Thank you for your comment, Ann! I really thank you for bringing this up to me. I should know better and feel pretty embarrassed that I didn’t realize Silk was owned by Pepsi. Coming from someone who is passionate about avoiding GMO’s, I think you can understand my embarrassment. On the positive side, Silk does carry the Non-GMO Project label and are actively working to label all of their products, which I was really happy to see. It’s also SO AWESOME to see that consumers are changing the market (Yay!!!) and demanding better quality food making companies like Pepsi want a piece of that pie. A lot of these small, organic companies can’t handle the demands of the current market. Even though many of these companies are being bought out by these bigger companies, for now, the standards (organic, non-GMO, high quality, etc.) that they always had are still the same. I do not want to endorse companies who are actively supporting the non-labeling of GMO products and very much appreciate you bringing this to my attention.

Will definitely make this smoothie! I too am concerned about the Silk (I didn’t know it was owned by Pepsi either!), because of how processed it is, and the extra not-so-healthy ingredients they add. Would canned coconut milk work? Of course, I should just make the coconut milk myself…maybe you can blog about how to make that 🙂
