July Stitch Fix Review 2015 – A 5/5 Fix!

My July Fix from Stitch Fix arrived! It was going to be hard for my stylist to top last month’s favorite Fix, but I do believe this month’s Fix might even top that one. I kept every single piece….for the second month in a row!

I’m using Stitch Fix solely to build my wardrobe and it’s been such a blast. What’s not to love about a surprise box showing up at your doorstep filled with amazing (& affordable!) goodies picked out just for you by a professional?!  It’s been a year since I’ve been blogging about Stitch Fix, so it’s safe to say that I’m a huge fan of this service.

Thanks to Stitch Fix and Dressing Your Truth (a fashion and personal development program that I can’t shut up about – it’s changed my life!), I’ve managed to step out of my fashion comfort zone, learned what styes and colors look the best on me and and I learned what it takes to put a great outfit together. It’s been such a fun year of learning and growing!

What is Stitch Fix?

If you’ve never heard of Stitch fix, let me tell you! With Stitch Fix, you get a surprise box complete with 5 handpicked clothing and/or accessories picked out just for you from your very own personal stylist (how cool is that?!).  You get to keep only what you want (for me it has to be a 10 out of 10!) and you can send back whatever you don’t want in the postage paid envelope. You can schedule a Fix whenever you want – no monthly commitments or anything like that.  For those wondering about the cost, it is affordable. The clothes are definitely more expensive than Target, but about equal to what you would expect at a department store.

My July Fix

So let’s take a look what I got!

Papermoon Magguie Laser Cut Detail Blouse

Skies Are Blue Enna Short

I seriously let out a little squeal when I first saw this top. It’s the most gorgeous coral color, don’t you think? And then those scallops and fun cute cut-out details…..swoon. This top is so me. For those that follow Dressing Your Truth, isn’t it totally Type 1? πŸ™‚ Love it!

Kallie, my stylist, said it would be a perfect match with my white jeans from my August Fix and I have to agree. She also suggested pairing it with the Skies Are Blue Enna Shorts she sent, gold ballet flats and a simple gold necklace. So I did. And I love this outfit – casual, classy and cute!

I think the shorts are unique and adorable, especially with the bow tie. They are so lightweight and perfect for hot summer days. Plus they are a great length. However, I learned a few days later that my husband is not a fan of these shorts. He says they are too baggy and poofy. I had already made the decision to keep the shorts before I asked his opinion and I’m now questioning them. Are they weird? Or cute? Do they look too big on me? Although my husband is gifted in many areas, fashion is not necessarily one of them. I would much prefer a female perspective πŸ™‚ Help! What do you think?

VERDICT: Kept, but am questioning the shorts. Would love your opinion!

Street Level Kala Crochet Clutch

How cute is this clutch?! It’s the perfect summer accessory in a fun, bright color. It also comes with a gold chain strap that converts it into a crossbody! It’s definitely roomy enough for all of my goodies, but small enough that it doesn’t overwhelm my petite frame. Perfect!

VERDICT: Kept!

Papermoon Marciela Halter Top

I knew this top was a keeper right from the box. I adore this beautifully bright turquoise color, plus I just so happened to have turquoise heels to match πŸ™‚  I paired it with my white denim from my August Fix, my fun, new clutch, a gold statement necklace and I was ready for a date-night with my husband. I love this fun, fresh, bright summer outfit!

VERDICT: Kept!

Loveappella Zola Asymmetrical Dress

July Stitch Fix Review - Loveappella Zola Asymmetrical Dress

I live in casual dresses and skirts in the summer. To me, lightweight dresses and skirts they are so much more comfortable and freeing than shorts. I was hoping to add a few more casual dresses to my closet, so I was especially excited to see a practical, casual dress in this Fix. It’s made from jersey material which makes it incredibly soft and comfy. It feels like I’m not wearing anything! My stylist, Kallie suggested wearing it with a bright blue necklace, a skinny belt and white sandals for a casual look. She also said I could dress it up with nude heels.  I’ve been practically living in this dress since the moment I got it – it’s a keeper!

VERDICT: KEPT!

I usually intend to keep 2 pieces per Fix since I’m super picky about what goes in my closet. I really adore them all this time around so I kept all 5! Thank you to my stylist, Kallie for picking me out the most perfect pieces!

I would love your opinion about the poofy, bow shorts, though. Let me know what you think! And thank you so much in advance πŸ™‚

The bow is cute but I agree they’re too big and poofy! Think you can still send them back?

    • Kelly from Primally Inspired

Thanks, Gigi! That’s what I was afraid of after looking at the pics. I can’t send them back since I already checked out, but I can sell them. Stitch Fix stuff always sells so quickly! My husband is sitting next to me with a smirk on his face like, “I told you so.” haha πŸ™‚

Personally I think you look great in them. They look super cute and fun and really suit your personality. I would keep them.

I love that purple dress!! Everything looks great on you, and is so YOU. I think the shorts would be good with a fitted top…have you tried that?

Hi! Do you specifically request colors for a Type 1 in your message to your stylist? Or in your style profile? I’m a Type 2 and am wondering how to best communicate that for my fixes. Thanks! πŸ™‚

    • Kelly from Primally Inspired

I do in my style profile, Christina and then I emphasize it again in every note to my stylist. In my note to stylist, I usually put something like “Surprise me, but make sure to send Lilly Pulitzer colors only!” I also use all the words on the back of my DYT color card and so far all of my stylists have totally gotten the type 1 style. And I make sure my pinterest board is filled with Type 1 only items. For types 2’s I would suggest saying that you only wear soft, dusty, muted colors like dusty purple, dusty rose, soft sage greens, soft blues, etc. and then use the words on the back of your style card to reflect the styles you’re going after…..romantic, flowy, lacey, blended patterns, etc.

I have to agree with your husband on the shorts. As soon as I looked at the photo…I’m just going to say it…they look poofy especially in the crotch area, lol. Sorry.

Agreed with the husband about those shorts. They are too baggy for your frame, but sure do look comfy. I’m sure you can unload them on the FB group pretty easily πŸ™‚

The shorts look really comfy and cool. I love things like that for wearing around the house in the summer! Probably a little expensive, though, for jus hanging out in…

I think the shorts are cute. There are some days when you just want to wear something that isn’t tight and these fit the bill. I’ll bet that they shrink a bit when washed, so that will soften the look a little. The whole fix is cute!

Hey, off topic (though I do love Stitch Fix and am getting my second one this week!), but are you going to post any new workouts soon? I gave birth to twins about a year ago and have been needing some workout inspiration. I was at such a high level before the babies and I have not had what I call a “real” workout since I was about 5 months pregnant – I am having such a hard time getting back into it because I’m not at the level where I used to be and it’s frustrating me! Also got a little bit of diastasis recti; it’s not a large separation, but I am terrified of making worse…haha!

    • Kelly from Primally Inspired

Amy, we so need to be neighbors! And congrats on your twins!! So cool. I am in the same boat as you (well not the twins part lol). I went through a really stressful last 2 years and I wanted to be gentle with my body as it was fighting a ton of stress. So I stopped working out hard. I haven’t lifted a kettlebell or weight in about a year and a half!!! This past year, I started doing T-tapp as a really gentle way to exercise my body as I was going through all the stress. I can’t believe the “easy” workout I get in 15 minutes and the results from it. I need to blog about it! My posture is a night and day difference – I’m kicking myself for not taking before and after pics. Anyway, I am finally at a place where I am ready to work out hard regularly again with weights and push myself really hard like I used to and I just started back up a few weeks ago. And I’m no where near the level I was and it’s SO frustrating!! I totally get where you’re coming from. Do you know what has inspired me to work out hard again? Watching American Ninja Warrior. lol! I love being inspired by those amazing athletes who push themselves to their limit!! Anyway, I was talking to my husband about wanting to post workouts again and you gave me the push I need, too so thank you πŸ™‚ Keep an eye out for them soon!

Kelly are you still doing Stitch Fix? I’ve been missing your reviews πŸ™‚

    • Kelly from Primally Inspired

Hi Alissa! Yes, I am still doing Stitch Fix, but I haven’t made the time to post my Fixes on here. I keep telling myself I need to do it, but I guess I haven’t been listening to me haha! I believe you gave me the push I needed so thank you πŸ™‚ My next Fix is scheduled to come next week so that will give me a good reminder to get it done.
